Dartmouth College Connection

Rural...but hardly remote.
With Dartmouth College a mere two miles away, it is no wonder nearly 40 percent of Kendal at Hanover residents take courses through the Institute for Lifelong Education at Dartmouth (ILEAD). Staffed by qualified volunteers, the Institute offers about 30 classes on subject matters as diverse as women adventurers, the history of Yugoslavia, memoir writing, and how to predict the weather. The institute also hosts a summer lecture series. Most classes are held at Kendal or at Dartmouth, and transportation is provided. At Dartmouth, professors often allow residents to audit the regular college courses, a doubly meaningful experience for those Kendal residents who are returning alumni. In addition, The Hopkins Center at Dartmouth presents over 500 events in film, dance, music and theater each year. And for those in the mood for short road trips and weekend get-aways, Montreal, Boston, and the Atlantic coast are all just a two or three hour drive away. In addition, the area's regional airport offers flights daily to major northeastern cities.

"Being neighbors with Dartmouth offers tremendous learning opportunities."
