Living at Kendal at Hanover

The dynamic Kendal community.

Kendal attracts a diverse group of individuals from all walks of life, and from all over the United States and many other countries. Before moving to Kendal, our residents enjoyed careers and lifestyles of remarkable vitality and interest. Here, that same spirit prevails. "Our greatest asset is our people," says one resident who moved to Kendal shortly after it opened. "We have 250 apartments of people living up to the hilt, doing the things they can and want to do. If we want something to happen here," she adds, "we make it happen."

"Even if you can no longer get out, you meet people here who have had remarkable experiences."

Create the lifestyle you want.
When Kendal opened in July, 1991, the board decided not to hire a social director. That decision proved to be a smart one. Through the Residents' Association and its varied committees, you and your neighbors, rather than an outsider or even the Kendal staff, shape the social, cultural, and intellectual life here. Given the amazing diversity of interests and talents represented within this community, the possibilities are almost endless. A typical week in Kendal's busy Gathering Room may include folk or ballroom dancing, a feature film showing, a musical recital, or a lecture. You have full use of Kendal's 7,000-volume library, swimming pool, exercise and recreational facilities, art studio, craft rooms, weaving room, wood shop, music room, computer lab, and private dining space for special occasions. Join neighbors for bridge games, ski trailmaking, book discussions, or other organized group activities. You are also welcome to initiate a new group around your own special interest.

"Living here has encouraged me to do things I couldn't do otherwise."
