Alternative Therapy

Kendal provides complementary services such as Reiki Energy Healing and Massage Therapy as a pay-as-you-go amenity. Kendal at Hanover has its own inviting space, an Alternative Therapy Room, where sessions can be scheduled in advance and enjoyed in privacy.

Kendal at Hanover residents have access to the on-site Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic. Thus, they have access to the renowned physicians and person-centered, coordinated care of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC), the largest and most advanced medical system in northern New England. The clinic at Kendal is staffed by one physician, two nurse practitioners and three nursing staff from DHMC. These professionals serve as the primary care providers for residents, offering both convenience and continuity of care, should they need to be referred to DHMC (only minutes away) for specialized services.

Your managed lifetime health care program at Kendal includes routine physicals, immunizations, and health screenings–all part of our focus on continuing wellness, physical fitness, and maintaining each resident’s highest level of self-care and independence. Kendal also provides 24-hour nursing services, on-call attending physicians and on-site services by referral, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, social services and dietary counseling.

The Power of Wellness

It’s physical inactivity that increases the risk for health, cognitive and functional decline, limited involvement in the community and poorer overall quality of life. The more fit you are, the more resilient your brain becomes and the better it functions both cognitively and psychologically. If you get your body in shape, your mind will follow!
