October 15, 2019 —Residents and staff at Kendal at Hanover put together more than 258 holiday gift bags for the Grafton County Senior Citizens Council (GCSSC), which will deliver them to area Meals on Wheels clients. The gift bags contained useful items donated by Darn Tough Vermont in Northfield, Colonial Pharmacy in New London, Grainger, McKesson and Walmart.
“It is heartwarming to see the efforts of the staff and residents at Kendal to put these gifts together and they will certainly be appreciated by members of our communities,” said Roberta Berner, GCSCC Executive Director.
GCSSC received the gift bags Dec. 18 at Kendal at Hanover, and they will be handed out along with Meals on Wheels during this holiday season. Kendal began raising money in early November to make 100 gift bags. With the support of the five business sponsors and overwhelming donations, Kendal was able to assemble over 250 gift bags.
“It means so much for us to be able to contribute like this and the additional support we received to fill the gift bags was very generous,” said Sherry Butler, Facilities Administrative Office Manager at Kendal at Hanover. “We are very happy to partner with the Senior Citizens Council to help a portion of our community that is sometimes overlooked.”
